Labor Day Irony: Our Most Important WORK is RESTING in HIM

On this Labor Day holiday, I feel compelled to blog about the importance of resting all of who we are and what we do in the unending strength of all HE is and all He gives.

I woke up with the song “I Am Who He Says I Am” by Hillsong in my head and heart this morning. (And you can listen by following this link: https://youtu.be/lKw6uqtGFfo). And it was a sweet reminder that true rest and meaningful work can only be known when we truly embrace the truth in these lyrics.

Who am I that the highest King

Would welcome me?

I was lost but He brought me in

Oh His love for me

Oh His love for me

Who the Son sets free

Oh is free indeed

I’m a child of God

Yes I am

Free at last, He has ransomed me

His grace runs deep

While I was a slave to sin

Jesus died for me

Yes He died for me

Who the Son sets free

Oh is free indeed

I’m a child of God

Yes I am

In my Father’s house

There’s a place for me

I’m a child of God

Yes I am

I am chosen

Not forsaken

I am who You say I am

You are for me

Not against me

I am who You say I am….

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” –Isaiah 40:31
